1.7 I can ensure that my personal data is backed up to appropriate media
mobile phone to access files in and outside school.In section 5 ‘Data backup’ of the School’s Data Protection Policy it is highlighted that the IT Technicians team make the following backups to our work:
5.1 All user data is backed up to a secondary Hard Drive using Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copying (VSS) technologies twice daily at 7 am & 12 noon. This is then backed up overnight using the steps from 5.2.
5.2 A full server backup to a SAN storage device automatically on a daily basis, using the latest technologies available. In this case we use “Veeam Backup & Replication” virtualization software for its fast indexing and data restoration. This takes place daily.
5.3 Checking of the error log file are carried out when email notifications reports an error.
5.4 Backups are carried out automatically on a daily basis, (in line with the ICT schedule sheet). This applies to Network servers & users home areas.
5.5 Daily and weekly backups are securely stored in a location remote from the server room.
5.6 An electronic log file is automatically created once the backup task is implemented.
5.7 The MIS server is included in 5.2. Also all MIS data is also backed up remotely via Link2ICT using Attix 5 software technology.
I always regularly backup important files to my G Drive account which allows me to access my files and folders from anywhere including home. I can also use my mobile phone to access files in and outside school.
